The rightists are great at one thing: marketing spin. The economy is in the toilet, yet it was someone else's fault. Tax breaks did not do a thing last time, and wiped out the hope of a surplus, but no one on the right remembers. Jobs have vanished, but they point to scared people working their tails off as 'increases in productivity'.

Once the vets figure out how much Bush is really cutting from their benefits, they'll catch on. Once they have had enough of being put into danger for Bush's misplaced sense of revenge on Saddam, they'll be pissed. Once they know what really happened to the 'facts' in the justification for war on Iraq, they'll help toss him on his ear.

"their arrogant belief that the American public would believe what they wanted to believe and what they were told. "

Very well put. I've seen it before; a leader who forgets that they are leading as a servant of the people, and becomes a demi-god, thinking they can do no wrong. They usually get whacked in the behind by the screen door of history...
