CIA, Black Ops, Special Ops, other covert organizations that are nameless for now. the whole point is for USA to establish a controlled region in the ME, to control a major portion of the Worlds oil, to show the Arab World that we will not tolerate radical Islamic Terrorism or State sponsored terrorism. " If there is so much more going on "than is publicly disclosed", then how come the occupation is in tatters? Nah, these guys are playing it completely by ear. They didn't even have a plan for rotating the troops out until this past week. Their only plan for Iraq was to be welcomed as liberators and to pass control of the country to the newly grateful Iraqi institutions. A few months ago they were all about "we don't need no stinkin' UN, we've got the armies of the cream of the industrialized world", now they're going around begging for 3rd world nations like Turkey and India to send troops, and they're getting turned down. If they'd had any kind of useful intelligence, they'd have known in advance that there weren't going to be any WMDs, and that the populace would not support a US occupation, and that the oil field sabotage wouldn't get started until after it became obvious that the US was "stealing" it. These guys marched into the most heavily armed country on the planet, as far as personal ownership of machine guns goes, and expected people who'd been bombed by the US for 12 long years to welcome them as heroes. If they'd had any reliable intelligence, they'd have known that it was going to be a fiasco and they'd have backed down with a declaration of victory along the line of "Saddam appears to be disarming, so our threats worked". If they'd had reliable intelligence neither Osama nor Saddam would be running around loose. Heck, they wouldn't have announced that they'd killed Saddam 3 times if their intelligence was decent. And if they weren't running in "hope" mode they wouldn't be announcing every scrap of bogus information as if this were the proof that finally showed that the invasion was going well or that it was justified because there were WMDs in Iraq. Instead, what they've done is come up with weak announcements that, over and over, turn to dust. The only truly good news they have is that they finally managed to assassinate two useless playboys. And even then they make the mistake of failing to treat the bodies with the minimum level of respect that the Moslem faithful and the US military demand that enemy combatants be treated with. But even that turned to dust as the Iraqis just kept on killing our guys. -- Carl
