Ray, these are terrible accidents of war whose odds are markedly increased by poor planning, poor communicative abilities on the part of our troops and a failure to understand the culture. Nonetheless, all done in our name and by our troops. Dual victims of the horror, our men and the lives ruined and lost there. That's why it was so shockingly barbaric to see all the crowing and gloating about taking out Saddam's army. It's not over till it's over and it's a long way from being over. What are America's goals and in the end will it be worth the costs?

As the fears, hatreds and misunderstandings between Iraqis and our soldiers mount, the odds of this happening more frequently will undoubtedly increase. We've seen this before but somehow we act surprised to see it again. Dogmacracy reigns.
