Ok, we quibble. Other definitions of depression are not so cut and dried. Before the word 'recession' came into common us, *everything* was a depression. The politicians apparently introduced 'recession' so as to not alarm the public.

The unemployment during that time was staggering. Let's hope we never see that level again.
