DR,

re: But when your family is at risk, you don't worry about what it costs to protect them. In the United States, our family was at risk.

What risk? Terrorism? Terrorism is the lowest probability risk to your family, my family, any individual in the US.

How many airlines hijackings have there been in this country in the last 10 years. How many non-domestic terrorist acts? Let me give you a clue, a rattlesnake bite is a bigger risk to your "family". A ladder is a tremendous risk compared to terrorism. A mugger with a gun or knife? They will kill your entire family 100's of times before a terrorist will kill one member of your family. Drunk drivers, heart attacks...

Fear of terrorism is one of those periodic American phobias. Yes, it could happen, in fact, yes, it probably will happen. But there are 10,000 things more dangerous.

Again, you are buying the rhetoric without weighing the facts, listening to the reactionary media without question. And once in a while it's healthy to contemplate the motivation behind the rhetoric.
