Ray,

I just found this one on Yahoo. I guess it's for real, but it sure is hard to believe.

story.news.yahoo.com

Do you know of any nice countries, not run by the criminally insane? Maybe it's time to move. America is dead.

( an email I sent to Poindexter's group )

"Admiral, this is terrific. A Stock Market of Death is an idea who's time has definitely come. I suggest setting up something like Reagan's Misery Index, except it would be for an entire country or region, taking into account the suffering, torture and death of individuals, in a creative formula that multiplies that times the number of individuals and the severity and term of their condition.

Then, we could add to that the Humor Level. What happened immediately after 9/11 was that the Humor Index went down, people were less humorous and told fewer jokes. The same could be expected in countries where people were starving, suffering from medical maladies like AIDS, or fully or partially blown apart by bombs from the US or locally-produced product

Finally, combine that with the suicide level, and all three could be assembled into a general Satanic Index, showing how close to Hell the populace really is.

Traders could hedge their positions when donating to late-night tv charities -- if it doesn't work, their short-selling of the Satanic Index could recoup their investment.

But possibly most exciting is the ability to recoup expenses for US military incursions. Just imagine! Taking out a very large position on the Satanic Index just before announcing a large attack by US bombers and ground forces could produce a significant payback.

It's an off-the-shelf, self-funding military that could go indefinitely around the world and attack anyone!

Here's the kicker: the greater the death and destruction of the country, the greater the Satanic Index, and the greater the profits. So for a very expensive campaign, DOD could ensure a more complete payback by careful targeting of guided weapons, increased numbers of selected weapons such as "daisy cutters", etc.

It's the American Way !

Good show, Admiral, I knew we could count on you to represent the best efforts of the Bush administration !
