<WASHINGTON - The Pentagon (news - web sites) is setting up a stock-market style system in which investors would bet on terror attacks, assassinations and other events in the Middle East. Defense officials hope to gain intelligence and useful predictions while investors who guessed right would win profits. >

That seemed an excellent idea to me. I've got a Tonka Truckload of money and a Ryder Truckload of diesel which says that there's going to be a big bang at, umm, let's see... If the odds aren't rewarding enough for that, who wants to bet on a RPG attack on an American Hummer? Heck, if there's money to be made, this could really get things happening. There's nothing like some cash flow to get people coming up with good ideas. Heck, look at Worldcom.

Hey, how much to blow up the Worldcom GSM network?

I had to double check to make sure that story didn't come out of Yahoo's "oddly enough" file , news.yahoo.com. It seems to be straight, which is troublesome. A little over the top, even for the PNAC people.
