As I thought about this post, I began to wonder if there are any engineers on this (or other) threads who are familiar with engine manufacture, and Stirling engines? I am aware of the shortcomings of the Stirling engine, but I believe that these can be overcome using modern design and material (Dean Kamen has already made some great strides).

If so, I'd love to hear some ideas about developing micro power Stirling engines. I firmly believe there is a means of making them large enough and practical enough to make a dent in the home energy market.
