I agree. Better that they'd have contracted with one of the bookmakers such as you described - Tradesports, I believe, one of them is called - and mined the resulting data in-house.

Some notions about this being an early warning signal if the 'bad boys' start betting in the market. Yeah.

If that was indeed the plan, it's laughable and demented. And it certainly might have been. However, I was under the impression that the plan was to have individuals knowledgeable in Middle Eastern affairs come together and place bets on various scenarios, thereby rendering a market-distilled patchwork of expectations that could be superimposed against real-world exigencies.

It's not often that I give the government too much credit. Could this be my annual installment?
