The web site didn't say anything about contracts on terrorist acts. That was apparently extrapolation by the news media. The closest it came was talking about contracts on specific events...The idea was to bring together experts in various fields of middle eastern studies, and use the marketplace to derive cross-displinary predictions.

Yes, Jon, you're correct - and that's exactly what I'd posted a few times today as well. Nonetheless, like so many other twists upon actual events, to the collective mind of the American public the surviving myth will speak of a government project that sought to "allow people to place bets on terrorist attacks."
