so given this kind of reasoning, maybe speculative explorer type stocks should only be bought 24 hours before pending drill results ?

Markets usually don't work that way. Do you think this will just sit here unchanged until the day after the ballot return? If this election goes the way I anticipate, the stock will be up well in advance of Nov. 2004. I'm also starting the clock ticking on my one year long term capital gain (15%) holding period, and will just put it away for a year, and forget about it.
