NPValue, on IVN

I'm with you; I think Friedland is going to hold out for higher prices, especially as there seems to be considerably more opportunity for reserve growth. What they need to do is spin off Myanmar operations so he can get the stock IVNHOE stock listed on the NYSE or AMEX. Also I'd think that other companies would be a bid slow to want to take over before all the infrastructure in in as the contacts and relationships Friedland has build with the Chinese and Mongolians are key.

As to possible valuation, I noticed that the Mining site only put the value of the reserves at $12 billion. Think the stock is trading at about 16% of that....I put the reserve valuation closer to 30 million but use only a 5% transfer to stock value which would therefore be about $6 Canadian...

As long as Friedland keeps talking........

NPV,

I am very surprised if he is already trying to deal this. With possible sizable reserve growth ahead, as well as a highly possible commodity boom, it would seem like holding on for another year or two minimum would be highly advantageous.

But as this is Friedland I'm sure the resultant deal will be highly preferable to IVN, whenever it may occur.

My recollection is a little hazy on the figures for IVN, so I won't even guess as to what I think a buyout may be at this point. But I am thinking of adding a little here, to an already large position (for me)

IVN is already significantly over priced I think. I'm looking for the news event to short it as it has a long way to fall. Haven't you noticed that there isn't one bone fide analyst on the planet recommending it? I'll crank the numbers out when I return from holiday.
