Even a normal kid wouldn't believe that. You've got to be a demented kid to think Saddam was "threatening the US" AND "its economy".

we went to war on Iraq because a despot there was threatening the US and it's economy.

Saddam wasn't threatening nobody. His country was weak after years of sanctions. His army was weak. He made no threats.

The time was right - American public was scared after 9/11, and was pretty much ready to rally behind any aggression as long as Bush could present it to have a link to "war against terrorism". US needed to show it had the resolve to use power. AND Saddam was sitting on a lot of oil. AND some geopolitical power in the Middle East would be nice.

That's the reason for the invasion of Iraq. Wake up and smell the garbage.

heh, yeah -- thank goodness for Sadam -- can you imagine where the stock market would be without him. I figure triple digits on the Nazcarp ...

I hope the soldiers get to come home sooner than it looks like. Folks in charge usually have a harder time admitting they are wrong, so I don't expect it, but I do feel sorry for the military folks over there. They fought bravely -- now they have to be targets -- if Bush hadn't been so friggin hard-headed, many deaths could have been avoided and we might have had help.
