Democrats have always used the economy as THEIRS when it's good and the Republican's when it's bad. The fact of the matter is that the presidents have had little or no effect on the economy in history. Monetary policy and the Fed has had control of our fate in modern times but even they can't turn the economy on a dime.

When the Reagan & Bush admisinstration were borrowing the economy slipped into recession. When Bush the elder began to borrow less, the economy improved. When Clinton began to borrow less than the economy grew, the economy took off. When Bush Jr. started massive borrowing again the economy tanked again. All the hand waving doesn't change the facts.
