I did, on purpose, bring down the level of evolution from the more evolved "consensus"
to the much more basic and rudimentary concept of "consent", as I knew that the
"consent" concept is fairly well known in USA.

To claim that the two concepts are differerent is like claiming an apple and a fruit are different
which was a fun and documented way of debating already some 3,000 years ago.
(and probably just as fun but undocemented long before that)

Which, btw, are one of the driving forces behind the goal of consensus-systems.
Using other words, ensure mechanisms to openly and willingly first find "common ground"
and only after that get to the "differences".

Note the differences between consensus behind "smoke and mirros" and
"locked doors" (of committees) and bringing out the consensus-common-ground, as
well as the differences, in the open, on the floor of the parliament, in votes, well defined,etc..
