Please define "the world". In other words, which countries wanted sanctions lifted?

Of course inspections "work" as long as you continue them ad nauseum, since Saddam obviously wasn't going to change his stripes.

I suppose another way to say the above is that we hould have more patience when people's lives are at stake...of course the degree to which we exhibit that patience is directly proportional to whose lives are indeed at stake. Take my word for that. If bush's daughters were in the military his disposition to send us to war would be tempered by a LOT of patience with inspections.
