I'm looking at earnings per year average over a cycle. Say 1998 to 2002. Average per year on AMAT came in at 45 cents EPS.

Money can be made buying now and selling to some sucker at peak earnings. If thats your game.

It can also be lost if the market decides to assign a rational longer term PE expectation to these stocks. Of course fat chance of that actually happening.

Investors will keep right on playing the boom to bust cycle game. And they better hope some boom is coming or else $19.50 will be expensive.

As for the killer broadband app. The killer already exists. In the form of the Baby Bells. They are killing the rapid growth of broadband.

My problem with applied and the SCEs is that the 300mm upgrade seems to have some unused mileage in it

I am not quite sure what you mean by this.
