We also accomplished very little in those wars.

Incredibly untrue..in Kosovo we stopped civilian killings and ethnic cleansing, we stopped the spread of the war to Macedonia, Albania and some say Greece, and we completely stopped Milosevic from expanding his Greater Serbia goals with blood. And we did it with near zero loss of American lives. I fault Clinton for not intervening sooner...so many more Croats, Bosnians and Albanians could have been saved.

Ten,

re: It's funny how you talk deterrence

I never used the word, you did. But you and I both have to agree it exists as a viable stop to state sponsored terrorism. They know that if they do a 9/11, regardless of our political leadership, the sh-t will hit the fan. And, as I've said, I have no problem with what we did in Afghanistan.

re: And Operation Desert Fox didn't deter Saddam.

I guess that's part of our disagreement. Is he still in Kuwait? Did he attack another Arab country after Bush War I? Did he threaten anyone, anytime; was their ANY indication that he was going to threaten anyone, anytime?

No, he was a little despot in a little country, sitting on big oil reserves. And he also happened to offend the Bush family, and their legacy.

John

JF, We lost very few lives in those wars, and they didn't leave continuing payments of $4B per month.

We also accomplished very little in those wars. It's funny how you talk deterrence, because the cruise missile attack in Sudan didn't deter Osama bin Laden. And Operation Desert Fox didn't deter Saddam.

Once again, if the inspections and sanctions were not working, where are the WMD?
