Then I was confused; I thought the low standard you proposed, applied to the POTUS, whereas you apparently only mean those low standards to apply to the POTUS's statements in his State of the Union Address (like the statement about uranium). Is that what you meant, or am I still confused, and you really meant to parse it even finer?

Have you heard of Occam, and his Razor? (Given a choice between two explanations, choose the simplest -- the explanation which requires the fewest assumptions.)

So, if nobody can find any evidence of a nuclear program in Iraq in 2002 or 2003, and nobody can produce any non-crudely-forged documents, then the simplest conclusion is.........there was no program then.

Have you heard about how hard it is to prove a negative? (very)

So, it is not up to the Peace Party to prove Saddam didn't try to buy uranium (from Chad, or anywhere else in Africa). The War Party made a positive assertion (yes, they did, nobody buys the attempt to blame the Brits), and the burden of proof is on them, to prove their claims.

If the War Party had a decent track record of veracity, perhaps they could get away with saying, "trust us, we have proof, but we can't make it public." But they don't have such a track record.

In the end, this isn't about documents and logic and testimony. It's about faith. Either one believes (you), or they don't (me). Everything else is just dragged in after, to buttress, prop up, and dress up in a shiny LogicSuit, all the things our Faith tells us to Believe in.

And I, too, have zip against you personally. How could I, since I know nothing at all about you personally? Thanks for making the effort to not make a personal reply.
