There was a time when folks thought that the US was a benevolent superpower. Bush War I, we were defending another country, a
good cause. This pre-emptive stuff is not benevolent, it's the stuff that the villains of history have practiced. You look at Bush, he
looks like one of the real bad guys of history, he really sounds like them.

America has a better foundation, a better tradition. Stupid quote: "absolute power corrupts absolutely". Most of the rest of the world
has stopped investing a huge percent of their GDP in their military, the end of the cold war and all that. Things were looking pretty
good. We've decide to go the other direction. And we are not being benevolent, we are being aggresive. This is not the America I
grew up being very proud of.

Bush-Chaney-Rumsfeld, are these the guys we want setting the moral standard for American democracy? What does the American
experiment really mean? Has it evolved into just another despot doing his will to the less powerful countries in the world? Or do we
want to maintain a higher standard?

Thank you very much.

Al

Doesn't he. He looks like a weasel with beady eyes. For the life of me, I don't understand why he looks like someone you can trust.

JF, Jeez, Ten, you can't have it both ways. I'm serious.

That's funny, because I was just about to say that. If we're going to take a strong stand against terrorism and rogue nations, we might as well put some real teeth behind everything we say and do. I believe the words of JFK apply here:

"Above all, words alone are not enough. The United States is a peaceful nation. And where our strength and determination are clear, our words need merely to convey conviction, not belligerence. If we are strong, our strength will speak for itself. If we are weak, words will be of no help."

As for your opinion of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, you're taking the evil characterization way too far. Funny how you don't lump Colin Powell into that gang, because he too was all for war. Guess it's easier to harp on Rummy (who I too think is a confirmed jerk).
