When you create an environment where a certain group is
given clear advantages not available to their peers, you
simultaneously create a group that is equally
disadvantaged. It's a zero sum game no matter how you try
to spin it. When those in charge also insist that this new
enviroment is actually fair & equitable to everyone, you
are sending clear signals to these very disparate groups,
opening the door to even more problems.

How can you not expect serious problems to arise from those
who know they are privileged & protected? You can expect
different kinds of problems from those who know they are
underprivileged as well (mostly lowered morale, lower
productivity & the mass exodus of the best & brightest).

This is the real world after all. People know when they can
take advantage of their situation & get away with it. And
there's always those who test the limits to see how far
they can stretch them.

There are thousands of Jayson Blair stories everywhere
there is intentional disparate treatment disguised as
affirmative action. The main difference is this one
unraveled in full view of the public.
