1) Genocide is war, and intervening to stop a war is moral. 2) The UN is the instrument, flawed as it is, that serves the purpose of passing judgement on military intervention. The Us ie merely one country among many. The US has no sovereignty beyond its own borders, and has no right to invade a sovereign nation such as Iraq unless under threat of attack. The Us does has the right to work with other countries to stop genocide, but I am not aware of any ongoing genocide at the time of the US invasion of Iraq.
