AmyJ, Congress has a major incentive to keep the H1-B and L1 program intact, the tech industries lobby heavily in favor of these programs.

The fact that congress is turning a blind eye to the tech industry now is due to the rampant abuse of visas. Anyone can see this immediately, whenever they go into a coffee shop in Redwood Shores, or attend a training course. There is a ratio of about 80% indians in most every technical dept at Oracle. Turning a US company into an indian company was not the purpose of the visas, and yet it happened, why?

There would be no backlash against these visas if corporate america knew how to handle them. But they do not. Maybe you have an ethical pov at your company when visas come into play, but many companies don't and now the entire industry is going to pay for that abuse imho.
