Aren't civil unions already recognized? Why push it? I wouldn't push it either. My understanding that the latest round of activity is coming from the opponents, not the proponents, as a result of fear that the latest SC decision will cause the walls to tumble down. My current itch is the hypocrisy in their arguments, those who care to make arguments, that is, rather than simply invoking God or what is being genteely called the "yuck factor." IMO it's too late in the game to base opposition on the argument that marriage has as it purpose the effective raising of children. That barn door has been too long open.
