This is more or less my view of the matter. I do think the intelligence assessment about the likelihood of cooperating with Islamicist groups is fatuous, along the line of arguing that Hitler would never ally with Stalin, because of his strong anti- Communism, just before the Hitler- Stalin Pact......

Thanks, Bill, for posting this Gordon piece. I missed it in today's Times because of errand running. It's very hard to tell whether it's a strong theory or a weak theory. We'll all just have to wait and see.

As of the moment, also, there has been no serious attempt to revive the claims that Al Q and Saddam were in serious cooperation mode.
