You might be surprised. In those countries and societies where polygamous marriages were legal and socially acceptable, they were quite common. I suspect that if the US were to make them legal, we could have an influx of people from societies and religions which accepted polygamy, and polygamy could gradually become perhaps not common but far from rare.

There is a lot more hidden polygamy in Utah right now than most people realize.
