There are lots of very good reasons to marry, IME. Indeed, and also some very good reasons not to. People do what they do for whatever reasons they have. There no longer exists the singular white-picket-fence marriage paradigm. People have marriages without the fence and fences without the marriage. The "irrevocable" tie is already long since broken. Which is my point about the issue of gay marriages being raised long after the barn door was left open and by now nearly irrelevant except to some traditionalists in denial.
