......D.Ray complains that Clinton looked to be weak that's why Saddam kicked the weapons inspectors out in '98. Well, then Saddam must have attacked Kuwait because he thought Bush I and Reagan were wimpy pipsqueaks......at least according to the way Mr. Ray views things.

Saddam made Clinton look like a damned fool. He knew Clinton was too political to be willing to fight.

Just in the last few days, there was a news story on MSNBC during which an individual who had interviewed Uday made reference to this fact. Uday told him, straight out -- that he sensed "the end was near" and that "Bush is not like Clinton; he is serious".

It is important that Saddam was removed, but it is also important that Syria and other belligerents recognize that they can't be screwing around with us.

He attacked Iran because we gave our tacit approval.

Any evidence for that one? We gave him assistance after the invasion because we wanted to keep Iran from overrunning a big chunk of Iraq but we didn't approve anything before the attack.

I think he assumed he had the same approval when he attacked Kuwait.

Perhaps he did. His mistake.

That's why he wouldn't wait for the weapon inspectors to finish their job.

There was no indication that they would ever be finished.
