Most Americans would be shocked to find out that only minorities in other countries consider the US a superior place to be, and only minorities would want to move there.

I think few Americans, if any, would be shocked. Relief would be more likely. The belief that we are taking in too many immigrants is very widespread. I make no comment on whether that opinion is warranted.
