Many stock market participants are unaware of the "swap" transaction as it not be done as easy as in the bond market.

A more loose way of doing swaps in the stock market is via the company convertible debt and the actual stock but on paper it is much more riskier as pure debt swaps

I know of a $2 billion hedge fund who gained or lost around $60 million on one bp.

They supposedly also rigged the market in conjunction with another hedge funds.

They fund is not around any more but I brought it up as an example how leveraged hedge funds can get.
