Saddam put down revolts -- revolts we helped to start. He crushed them. It was brutal. Make no mistake, we are now the ones in Iraq trying to put down revolts against us -- and with 7,000 civilian deaths on our hands, not to mention untold Iraqi "combat" deaths, you can hardly say our attempts to subdue Iraq and more recently to put down an Iraqi revolt are anything less than bloody. Saddam was ruthless -- and we are not. But with the kind of firepower we command, the results are lethal.
