"If you cant trust George, trust the system that put him in office and will remove him if required." Yes, I do trust that system to get rid of weak Presidents and bad policy.

I believe the US needs to stand up and take the lead. I believe the US needs to develop forward looking policy. I believe actions speak louder than words. But we have not done any of these things. We are not leading anybody. Our actions do not help when they are guided by bad policy.

We are not leading. Unilateralism isolates us and undermines our leadership role as well as undermining the international institutions we need to build to effect our leadership. "Regime change" is not a forward-looking policy framework -- it is an indulgence of power over wisdom. Our actions are misguided at best and betray the dark side of being a "superpower". The US is now weaker than when Bush became President and I regret that deeply. Building requires strength and patience. Destroying is easy. Much has been destroyed. Nothing has been built.

Hi Sig; Re: "Chemical weapons have been banned for years by the Geneva Convention."

I should point out that the Geneva Convention bans only the use, in war, of chemical weapons. It doesn't ban making and owning them. A later treaty bans them entirely. I doubt that Iraq signed the later treaty.

And of course gas is entirely legal when used on your own citizens. Want proof? There's tons of references, LOL, but you have to ask for it to get it.
