We're agreed on the lack of information, yes.

Ditto. As for the guinea pigs, I take your point and I think there is some risk in the unknown, but I don't think the downside is all that threatening. There is but one independent variable. We risk that the children will have gender identity problems. We know that isn't inevitable because there are enough kids raised by homosexuals who are living their lives without gender identity problems. So the question is only whether or not there is a greater chance of that in one family as opposed to another. Hopefully, we will have enough info at some future time to assess that. Seems to me that it could go either way. There may also be the secondary effect of growing up in a family that is more subject to ridicule than an equivalent traditional family. We probably won't ever have data on that. And, of course, the best way to solve that is for society to not ridicule such families. In any event, there's the question of whether a certain amount of that is necessarily bad for the child or whether it's a growth opportunity.

Bottom line, IMO, is that the risk is small both in terms of the number of affected kids and the damage they might experience. There are worse things that gender identity problems. Most of the kids sent to live with gays by the system would be problem placement who are probably better off with a gay couple than a group home or an institution.

I imagine there will be some kids hurt by this. But then there are some kids hurt by cars crashing into their bedrooms while they sleep. I can't get too exercised over the risk.
