If genocide was taking place in 1988 and if in 1988 we intervened to stop genocide -- then fine, that would be intervening to stop a war. To say 15 years later that an ugly attack within Iraq is grounds for invasion is nonsense.

That's not really an appropriate question to ask anyone posting here. We ALL know what was going on in Iraq. We simply differ about whether it was a good choice to invade them. Other countries have killed millions of their own citizens (and I don't happen to think Iraq killed millions), and we never used that as a reason for invasion before.
