The UN should be running Iraq. We have no business there. As for the six ring circus approach to North Korea, there will be talks and talks are better than nothing. China is on board and we can use their help. Russia could be helpful. Russia was shocked that we were letting the North Korean situation get so badly out of control. What you fail to accept is that there is an urgency in North Korea that was completely absent in Iraq. Wasting time imperils our national security. The White House has been wasting time. Including Japan in talks now promises more of the same.

Turning Iraq over to the UN and leaving would cause 15 things to happen nearly all bad
1.Saddam for the second time would have "won", in his opinion, and we would have repeated a big mistake of not finishing a job and would deserve the hatred of all Iraqis except the Saddamites.
2. France and Germany would demand the new government pay them the billions owed, and right now, leaving
the country without funds
3. Saddam supporters would come out of their hideouts, re-organize, dig up their guns and cut loose on innocents, and try to put Saddam back in power. .
Unless the UN can get hold of, and pay for, 250,000 troops to keep order .
I would agree that having the UN working in Iraq would be a big plus, just dont let them try to run things.
