Allowing federal funds to pay for stem cell research, supporting the supreme court's decision that struck down sodomy laws, not spending time speaking out against abortion, and other things. Bush isn't exactly a darling of the "anti-religious right", but he is not a lapdog to the religious right either. Pandering to them even a little is too much and Bush does more than a little. It encourages them to have public ceremonies praying for the removal of Sup. Ct. justices, or prompts a T.Delay to make a trip to Israel promoting his own vision of Israeli nationalism. The religious right is a very active part of his constituency........a very disturbing part.AKA as neocons. To the extent that they can be identified as a coherent group with specific opinions Bush hasn't pandered to them. They are a very coherent group and some of their members are in Bush's cabinet......Rummie and Wolfie. They call themselves "the cabal", and since the 90s, have been demanding that the US military intervene in various hotspots around the world, including Iraq. Bush's actions to date echo their demands. They are a powerful force in his administration and are dangerous. And Iraq is not the only country on which Bush has set his sights. You have evidence for this claim? Why are you playing dumb?Excuse me......pushing for a major abbreviation of affirmative action when statistics show that minorities still trail whites in the important demographics including income. That isn't pandering to racists, it is opposing racism. Also Bush hasn't really done a strong job in this area. He has praised the supreme court decisions that enshrine diversity as a compelling state interest that can be used to justify unequal and unfair treatment of individuals. Abbreviating affirmative action when minorities still seriously lag whites in many key demographic factors is another example of racists trying to prevent equality between the races. Sorry if you can't see that........its been going on for ever since the slaves were freed. When you answer the question where are the WMD in the positive, I will no longer have evidence True you wont have evidence then just like you don't have evidence now. In other words, you refuse to admit the obvious. Classy! ted Subject Titles Only Full-Text Message Boards Terms of Use
