In particular, the theories expressed on this board about explosives, little nukes, remote controlled jet liners are just so absurd that they defy rationale discourse.

I agree. I don't buy into all this talk about far-out conspiracies like little nukes and remote control, etc. That is getting into the realm where you have to really stretch things and even suspend reality to make those conspiracy theories work.

My biggest concern is that people high up in our government might have just "let 9/11 happen" for their own selfish political purposes. There is ample evidence in my mind that many people in our government acted with utter incompetence before and during 9/11 and that raises the question why? Was it really utter incompetence or some other motivation that was the cause of their inaction? I mean, a lot of people were incompetent before and during 9/11. One thing that 9/11 certainly revealed is that our country has its priorities all screwed up, we have troops all over the world for all sorts of reasons, yet we can't even put up a proper defense for our own country when something like 9/11 happens?!? Something just doesn't add up in my mind and some serious questions need to be answered before all the conspiracy theories are dismissed.

As Rock_nj said, Something just doesn't add up in my mind and some serious questions need to be answered

The likelihood of a conspiracy exists to the extent that the players are unwilling to disclose information on hand.
Those who have something to hide can be identified by their refusal to answer questions.

Occam's Razor - once you collect the facts and eliminate the impossible, the rest is part of the possible, no matter how distasteful.

As a recent example from last week, having a group "make book" on deaths and assassinations in the US and around the world is not very believable, and to have such sponsored by the Dept of Defense is even less so. Yet it happened. The lack of regard for human life is absolute among more than just a few in our gov't.

This is not "incompetence". That's a ruse often used, along with "national security" to obfuscate programs and individuals that may have entered into criminal behavior.

The only solution isn't to argue whether a consipiracy exists or not, but to disclose everything except bona-fide military secrets, of which there are almost none, and to disclose those to representatives of the people, and fire anyone who makes excuses.

As the money trail starts getting exposed, its amazing what forces are at work inside and outside the gov't. There are literally trillions of dollars at stake over the next decade. Any such conspiracy if one exists is not ideological, imo.

All of these problems are not just a result of secrecy, it is a result of a large gov't structure that inevitably gives rise to secrecy and malfeasance. This will increase until we are under full martial law, or revolution.
