Rascal,
The two enemies are quite different. We have reduced the capability of al quaed by alot over the past two year but until we kill them all or offer something more hopeful to their next gen supporters terrorism will be with us. It is more likely to occur in Asia and in parts of europe than in the US. One reason for that could be that bin laden doesnt need the sleeping giant to get extraordinarily pissed again. So deterrence works but in areas where there is little deterrence, they will continue their efforts. So when we go off to knock off an axis state, yes perhaps it had an effect on the war on terror. But the defeat of the terror state offers long term benefits if one buys into the belief that a terror state's demise is more important than killing a few guys in the mountains for a few weeks. As I said, we are killing or capturing Al- Qaida operatives, in various countries, all the time. I am not privy to all of the discussions leading to fine- tuning the allocation of resources, but the Administration is capable of multi- tasking, as far as I can see.......
