As TV's power wanes, so will the power of money to control politics

The key phrase.

Pimps like Morris have screwed things up so cynically people are looking to the web as the only way to find anything resembling truth.

Its insane, seeing Bush raise $200 million in an unapposed primary to brainwash the electorate, promising 100X that amount in favors to the donors, in a game that's losing traction. Only by threats of terrorism will the simple game of political coercion continue, and even then there will be increasing quesions on why the secrecy.

You've got Carl Rove, who helped develop dirty tricks as far back as the Nixon campaign, who's also part of the cynical pack attempting to subvert the media.

Have you seen "Travels with George"? The "campaign rallies" with "handmade" signs, were all scripted and produced ahead of time, with hundreds of paid volunteers to chide the rest into cheering etc. That's the logical conclusion of he Morris/Rove type of campaigning of the last 30 years. It has nothing to do with old-fashioned debate-style politics, and everything to do with why people turn off mainstream television and go to cable and the web.

Truth is an increasingly scarce commodity, and is becoming valuable enough seek out instead of being force-fed, especially when the stakes are our freedoms and prosperity.
