I live in a condo. I have no control over what happens to my house beyond the interior plaster. (Yes, the house is old enough to have plaster walls. It's part of an official national historic district, or some such.) So the condo folks are responsible for the final disposition of the squirrel and his hole.

Which is no longer there, I'm pleased to report. The repair guys showed up late this morning and trampled the flower beds. At least my cranky downstairs neighbor will probably say so. Anyway, by the most marvelous serendipity, the cable guy, the interior guy who I begged to come over and see if he could rig up something temporary to help out until the outside installation guys finally got to me, came while they were still on the ladder so they and he and I did the installation. He got a reel of cable, handed it up to them from the ground, they put it in the cable hole in the wall, which is just beneath the squirrel hole, and I reached down from the attic and hauled it up. TV works great. Repair guys have a little something in their pockets, and I'm happy as can be that this ordeal is over. Everyone was so nice. Except my neighbor, that is, but you can't have everything. And I don't know the whereabouts of the squirrel. But he's probably better off than if I hadn't gotten him out of the attic but rather left him for the pest control folks, who were called by the condo folks but I reported that wasn't necessary thanks to my bricks. So my feet are now up and I will probably watch TV whether there's anything on or not.
