Reconstruction
or
Rehabilitation

When you look at the opinions of those who went to Iraq on the CSIS fact finding mission, it is very apparent that the rehabilitation of the relationships within NATO, the EU and the UN are going to be a necessary first step. If you read the Andrew Moravcsik article he makes the point that the Bush Administration has proven to be very weak on diplomacy, it is not likely that the men who control the Administration are going to learn that skill any time soon.

America has a problem. Mr. Hamre's bleak assessment of the chance of success in rebuilding without international help is further darkened by Mr. Moravcsik's portrayal of an Administration which is diplomatically inept.

And this line

<<The Bush administration offered a variety of shifting rationales for the war, some of them dubious>>

"When Bush lied, our Soldiers Died!"

As bad as what chuck said. In any war the president as commander in chief send the boys off to war. Was FDR a disgrace because he used propaganda to fire up the home front? You can have your opinions regarding the efficacy of the war and of the info used by the government to fight it. But you crossed the line. And remember FDR sent loyal Japanese americans to camps--all of them. Ashcroft has detained a few hundred moslems to date who are suspects. Yes there will be a few sad stories to tell about those falsely accused. And they should be compensated. But you get my drift on how much more liberal Ashcroft is than FDR. Times have changed for the better in that sense. mike
