API confirms rise in U.S. crude stocks By Myra P. Saefong
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -

The American Petroleum Institute reported a 1.6 million barrel rise in crude stocks for the week ended August 1 vs. the 2.9 million barrel climb reported by the Energy Department. Supplies now total 278.1 million barrels, the API said. Gasoline supplies fell by 4.5 million barrels to 201.8 million barrels and distillate inventories stand at 116.1 million barrels, up 400,000 barrels from the previous week, the API said.
