I like that.

In the case of Neos original post about childless couples I considered the interpretation you took as "out of character." Neocon has posted thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of times on SI. It is out of character for him to not have considered the childless decision as being one that had been arrived at through intelligent and careful thought by dignified persons. The idea that his statement was hastily composed would make more sense than other explanations. That is why I put my two cents into it.

I also figured your reaction to be a little out of character. I figured that you got a personal button pushed.

In both cases I considered not only what had been said but the characters who were saying it and assumed something about the intention behind the action. It looks like my educated guesses were right...this time.

The point being, that some times we do attempt to judge intention over behavior when we think we have a good grasp of the character involved...but, mostly your boss was right.
