There may be definite advantages to being heterozygous for Tay-sachs- but since, as far as I know, those advantages do not involve parasites, i do not know what the advantages are. But i never assume there are no advantages to something that might "appear" maladaptive. Because there are layers and layers to adaptations, and we certainly only understand the tip of the iceberg at this point. I have to wonder, is this a conversation that you are paying a price for? I will always wonder that now, every time I read your posts....
