Your original implication was not that uranium accounted for a large percentage of export earnings, but instead that uranium accounted for a large percentage of GDP. Here's your quote:

The simple fact is that uranium production, while a large fraction of Niger's exports, is nevertheless a very very small percentage of Niger's GDP. Chick peas make up considerably more of their GDP.
