Yes it looks as though some money managers are using gold equities as a hedge against perceived risks. The question is whether it will work or not. The jury is still out as to whether gold stocks can do well in a negative equity market. Looking back over the past year or so, they actually peak close to when the general equity market peaks so this may not prove to be the case.

As I stated, there could be an blowoff in gold shares if the DOW weakens but I would be a seller on that strength.
