>>Apparently anything American is a big deal and appeal. <<

Not necessarily a big deal, just to indulge their only child. If you ever visited McDonald in China, you would definitely see more kids than adults. Few adult Chinese like big Mac. I seldom eat it. Even when I am on the road, I will buy fish sandwich, not burgers<g>

>>If so, then drug dealers coming next.<<

Fred, apparently you do not follow closely what has been happening in China<g>. Drug has been a huge problem in China for the last decade, I heard that in some cities, you can even spot a drug addict or two on the street. Although there is a difference bet. the people who use drugs in China and in US. In US, some well-to-do people in the US also use it, like movie stars, fashion model.... But in China, majority drug users are uneducated bunch.

>>Hopefully they don't learn from or admire too much of George Bush and his gang. <<

Anti-Americanism is popular in China. If China now had an election for the highest ranking official, most likely a radical nationalist would win. That would be a nightmare for the US. And the irony is few Americans realize this.<g> The same thing goes to Saudi, or even Iraq...

>>Otherwise China and the world could be in big trouble in 30-40 years, not only from becoming be fat and obese like the Americans and learn how lie and become Bushies-type war merchants. <<

China has its own form and a long history of corruption (throughout China's history, corruption is big problem). But between 1949 and 1970 or so, it was ok. One after another political movement almost guaranteed no gov. officials dare to use their power for some personal economic gain. Nepotism was rare too during that time. However, with the adoption of the open-door policy in 1978, economic corruption has been a huge problem. Even if with the harsh punishment, like life sentence, or even death sentence, still there are plenty of corrupted officials in local levels. The officials in Central gov. level (Beijing), by and large, are ok.

Fat and obese have also been a big problem in China now, although still not as bad as in the US.<g>

>>Big Mac and Quarter Pounder specials in US is 99 cents. <<

Exactly, and they goes on sale at least 5+ times a year. But in China, they are rarely on sale. And plus cheap labor, they can make higher margin in China than in the US. Every time you hear Macdonald gives a warning on earnings, it is because of the low sale in other countries in Asia or Europe, not because of the low sale in the US.
