Kohl's July Same-Store Sales Rose 6.7%

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wisc. (Dow Jones)--Kohl's Corp. had total sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 2 of $700.8 million, up 21.4% from $577.1 million a year earlier.
In a press release, the company said same-store sales in July were up 6.7%. The Thomson First Call mean estimate was for July same-store sales to increase by 1.6%.

For the second quarter ended Aug. 2, total sales increased 14.9% to $2.21 billion and same-store sales increased 1.1%. For the 26 weeks ended Aug. 2, total sales were up 14.1% to $4.33 billion and same-store sales fell 0.7%.

At Aug. 2, Kohl's operated 492 stores in 34 states, compared with 420 stores in 32 states a year earlier.

Kohl's Corp. is a department-store operator.
