if your neighbor is using visas to bring people over to the US from india to work as LVNs, I have to say that particular loophole in our economy is going to be shut down soon imho.

The H1-B visa quota returns to 64K in 04, this was the number of visas we had in the US prior to the technology boom, 64K is not a huge number considering all workers are lumped into one huge visa type. Anyway this 64K number is even being pared down I understand. The other visa type, L-series which is not limited in number and allows for only temporary workers, is on the chopping block totally by congress. So really, the future of employment in the US for indian visa workers is really quite grim I'd say.

I don't care what Bush and his cronies Snow and other economic loonies from his admin think, congress is pretty well united against these visas at this point.

Otoh, offshoring where people remotely do work there is alive and well and no amount of legislation can curtail that. We still have to deal with that competitive threat.

We have some very major issues here that are just building and my guess is right about the time this jobs export hits middle america, will be Nov 04.
