Olga, first try to display another pdf file with the reader. If that doesn't work either, maybe there's something wrong with your reader. > have to activate the adobe reader which needs a microsoft passport account.< Adobe Acrobat Reader should not require a MS passport account.

I'd uninstall the reader you have and install directly from Adobe adobe.com

Gottfried's right. I use Acrobat and I wouldn't be caught dead with a Microsoft passport <g>
